Bible Lesson – Week of October 12

Dear Parents,

This week your child will learn the Bible truth of God’s call to Abraham, found in the book of Genesis, chapters 12-21.

The story of Abraham’s journey is one of total trust and reliance on God. God called Abraham from Ur, an ancient Middle Eastern city. God told Abraham to move to a new land, a land where Abraham would settle and become the father of a great nation. Trusting God, Abraham followed His lead, despite the fact that Abraham had no idea where God was leading him. And God made a promise to Abraham – a wonderful promise to give Abraham descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky.

Covenant Schools Bible Lesson

There was just one problem: Abraham and his wife, Sarah, had no children. And they were old- really, really old! How could they believe God’s promise and trust in Him?

As parents, it’s so important to learn to trust God and to entrust your child to Him. Your preschooler will grow and become more and more independent. Before you know it, he or she will be in elementary school; and in another blink of an eye, in high school! It’s amazing how quickly time passes. Your child will make new friends and learn new things.

And your child will not always know what he or she is doing, thinking, or maybe even exactly where he or she is! Those are the times when you’ll be glad that you’ve entrusted your child to your loving heavenly Father’s care.

Thank you for helping your child learn the Bible truth.

Things to talk about at home after the Bible Lesson:

  1. Have you ever made a promise? Why is it important to keep promises?
  2. How can people talk to God today?

If you were to take a long trip, where would you go? How would you get there?
