Meet our Teachers

Ms. Joy — Director

Ms. Joy has worked with Covenant Schools for the past 10 years and has spent the past 8 years as the director of the Rio Rancho child care center. She uses her background in Elementary Education/Special Education and her current pursuit of a Business Administration degree from UNM to make Covenant Schools one of the best childcare centers in the area.  For Ms. Joy, working at Covenant Schools is so much more than a job—it’s a passion and a calling. She works hard to keep a positive and friendly environment where staff and students are happy and excited to come to school every day. Ms. Joy does all that she can to make sure Covenant Schools is always giving 110% to the care of your child so that your expectations are always met or exceeded. Ms. Felicia — Infants

Ms. Felicia has been involved in professional child care for over 12 years. Having spent the last 6 years at Covenant Schools’ Rio Rancho child care center, Ms. Felicia has been able to form lasting bonds with children and parents. A typical day in Ms. Felicia’s care varies according to each infant’s individual schedule, but is structured around a lot of love and a variety of activities that enable infants’ to progress developmentally.

Ms. Reyna — Toddlers

Ms. Reyna has been with Covenant Schools’ Rio Rancho child care center for the past 3 years. Raising three girls of her own and volunteering at St. Thomas Aquinas, Ms. Reyna has extensive experience caring for young children. When children come to Ms. Reyna’s classroom, they can expect a day of fun-filled activities that stimulate their desire to learn. Throughout the day, children will participate in individual and group activities to learn their shapes, colors and basic sign language. Ms. Reyna is committed to make learning fun by providing children with care that comes from a loving and nurturing heart.

Ms. Adriana – Two A

Ms. Adriana has been an educator for Covenant Schools since the beginning of 2007. With a background in the church, teaching Sunday school and raising two beautiful daughters of her own, Ms. Adriana is devoted to setting a good Christian example. A typical day in Ms. Adriana’s classroom begins with pledges, memory verses and Bible stories. She constantly rotates the curriculum so the children will always find learning fun!

Ms. Tracy – Two B

Ms. Tracy has found her experience at Covenant Schools’ Rio Rancho child care center greatly rewarding. Due to her opportunity to communicate openly with parents, she has created a classroom that invites parental involvement. Ms. Tracy’s lesson plans benefit from a balance of play and structure. She believes routine is of utmost importance for children of this age as it creates a sense of trust and security for children to interact with each other and learn about the world around them.

Ms. Connie – Twos

Ms. Connie has been working at Covenant Schools for the past three years and enjoys the challenge of meeting each child’s unique educational needs. A typical day in Ms. Connie’s class is adaptable to the unique personalities of each child and the variety of attitudes they display throughout the day. By reading Bible stories and reviewing shapes, colors, numbers and the alphabet with fun songs and activities, students get excited about learning and are given a solid foundation for future educational advancement.

Ms. Amber – Preschool Beginner A

Ms. Amber has worked at Covenant Schools for 5 ½ years and also attends school for her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Ms. Amber is dedicated to learning and self-improvement. In addition to her degree program, she attends multiple trainings throughout the year to advance in her teaching skills and gain the wisdom of other teachers’ experience. Ms. Amber has created a dynamic and interactive classroom firmly rooted in the power of God’s Word.

Ms. Hannah – Preschool Beginner B

Ms. Hannah has been involved with Covenant Schools for 2 ½ years. To provide students with a firm foundation for elementary school, Ms. Hannah teaches language development, phonics, Spanish and sign language while forging a personally nurturing relationship with her students. She believes that activities designed to make learning fun—as well as a strong bond between students and their teacher—is key to educational success.

Ms. Sandra – Pre-Kindergarten Advanced A

Ms. Sandra brings to Covenant Schools’ Rio Rancho child care center over 20 years of experience; she has been with Covenant Schools from the beginning. She strikes a balance between work-time and playtime and has made learning fun for her students. Ms. Sandra stresses the spiritual aspect of the curriculum and makes sure the children know that God loves them.

Ms. Kellie – Pre-Kindergarten Advanced B

Ms. Kellie started working in the toddler room at Covenant Schools 5 years ago and now works with the advanced four-year olds. Drawing upon her training in child development, spiritual development and the A Beka curriculum, Ms. Kellie teaches letter recognition, phonics and Bible stories all the while encouraging the children to laugh and enjoy each others’ friendship. Ms. Kellie is dedicated to giving her children a solid foundation for future success.
