Emergency Procedures
We have regular fire and disaster drills at both of our New Mexico daycare locations. The children are taught to listen to the teacher’s directions as they go about each drill so that they are prepared for a real emergency. Children are orderly assembled and counted in a safe location and given first aid and comfort as needed. We will stay with your children until you or someone of your choice can get here.

We have undergone training with the police department to develop an emergency preparedness plan for each of our schools. A color-code system is in place to alert staff and students as to what type of emergency is at hand and how to properly respond.

We have stored flashlights, radios, first-aid supplies, food, and water. Teachers have first aid training and are CPR certified.

Child Abuse and Neglect
Staff members are required by law to report any suspected cases of child abuse or neglect. All staff members complete the Protocol for Reporting Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect.

Non-Smoking
In considering the health of you, your child and the staff, our New Mexico daycare facilities are strictly smoke-free environments—both in and around the school.

Food Items
Covenant Schools provides nutritionally-balanced snacks and meals for the children. We have a full-service kitchen where deliciously fresh breakfast, lunch and two snacks are prepared and served daily. All meals are included in tuition. We ask that children do not bring food items from home. Exceptions should be documented for medical reasons only.

Arrival and Departure
All arrivals and departures must be through the school’s secure main entrance and in the presence of a qualified staff member. Children may be dropped off after 6:30AM and picked up any time before closing at 6:00PM. Every child must be signed in and out. Only those listed on the application will be allowed to take the child from school.

In the case of children going home with friends, a note from the parent is needed along with identification of the person picking up the child. Children are to remain with their parent or guardian when leaving the building to help ensure the safety of the child in the parking lot.

If a designated person comes to pick up the child and is intoxicated, for the child’s safety, Covenant Schools staff will keep the child at school until another person can pick up the child.

If an emergency arises and an unlisted person is sent to pick up a child, the parent must notify the school in writing if possible, giving identifying information. A driver’s license or other picture identification will be required.
