New Mexico Child Care – Our Licensing and Accreditation
At Covenant Schools, we are committed to providing the best possible Christian care for your child while you are away. We hold our staff to high standards of care and education. Every one of our staff members is required to:
- have a 45 hour basic child development class,
- maintain current Infant and Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification,
- pass a thorough background check,
- pass a pre-employment drug test,
- pass random drug tests, and
- complete 35 hours of additional professional development training every year (this exceeds the state license requirement of 24 hours).
In addition to providing well-qualified staff to care for your child, we also hold our facility to high standards of child care in New Mexico, by seeking affiliations and accreditations that go above and beyond state requirements. Our licensing, affiliations and accreditations are as follows:
The ICAA is the organization through which we have our accreditation as a Christian school providing child care in New Mexico. It is an approved accrediting agency by CYFD and the New Mexico Department of Education. This voluntary accreditation attests to our credibility of performance, integrity and quality of education and care.
Our membership with NMCCEA provides us with access to additional training, knowledge and advocacy as we strive to provide exceptional care for children in New Mexico.
CYFD is the state licensing agency. Child care programs licensed through CYFD are ranked for quality on a scale of one to five stars. We have a five-star rating from the state that designates our program as providing the highest level of quality child care in New Mexico.
Belonging to the ORUEF enables us to network and seek support from other Christian preschools across the nation. We are held accountable to provide responsible and reputable care for children in our program.
