Communication is Key!
At Covenant Schools, communication is a key factor in the success of our New Mexico child care centers. We believe that parents should be informed about their child’s progress and have the ability to speak with their child’s teacher whenever they have questions or concerns about their child’s care. There are several things we do to promote an open line of communication between parents and teachers:
- Parent Information Boards
Outside of every classroom at our New Mexico child care facilities is a Parent Information Board. This board provides general information about your child’s day, including information about what the class did that day, what they ate, a daily schedule and lesson plan.
- Direct Communication
Our teachers are always available to talk with parents. While there usually isn’t time for more than a few comments as you drop off or pick up your child, you can set up a time to talk with your child’s teacher when it is more convenient for both of you.
- Daily Infant, Toddlers or Twos Communication Forms
Our teachers fill out a daily infant, toddlers or twos communication sheet to inform you of what your child’s day was like. Since infants, toddlers and twos cannot tell you about their day, this daily feedback is of utmost importance. On these forms, you will learn about what your child’s day was like, including what was eaten, what was done, what new words were spoken, what milestones were achieved, diapering and any other information that is important to understanding your child’s experience on any given day.
- Conferences
We offer annual parent-teacher conferences for you to sit down and discuss your child’s development in depth at both of our New Mexico child care facilities. You may request a conference with your child’s teacher at any time during the year.
- Handbook
Our handbook provides you with a wealth of information about our New Mexico child care programs, our values and our policies and procedures. Included in the handbook is a list of days the school is closed for holiday observance.
- Web Site
Our Web site is another tool we use to communicate with parents. Not only can you learn more about the school here, but you can keep up-to-the-minute on the latest updates on what’s going on and what to expect.
- Monthly Newsletters
Every month you will receive a newsletter from the director of your school. These newsletters inform parents on the progress children are making and are filled with important reminders about upcoming events and tips on raising children.
- Open House
At the beginning of the school year, you will be invited to attend an open house to learn more about your child’s upcoming school year, create a personal connection with your child’s teacher and establish communication about your child’s progress throughout the year.
- Emails from the Director
Periodic emails from the director keep you informed on the latest happenings at Covenant Schools.
- Open Door Policy
As a parent, you are always welcome to drop by and check on your son or daughter while they are in our care.
- Snow Day Communication
To find out if school is cancelled or delayed due to snow or other unexpected reasons, log on to kobtv.com or koat.com or call the school for a message.
The need for parents and teachers to communicate is imperative to a child’s growth and development. By making sure we’re on the same page, parents and teachers work together to provide children with the best possible advantage in life. Any information you share with us concerning your children and/or your family is kept confidential.
