Ms. Jean — Infants
Ms. Jean has been providing infant care for over 27 years and has been with Covenant Schools from the beginning. She has spent the past 9 years at Covenant Schools providing good nurturing, love and care in a safe environment for infants. A typical day is structured around the unique schedule of each infant in the program. Infants are read to, played with and encouraged to advance in developmental skills throughout the day. Ms. Jean is committed to maintaining open lines of communication with parents and makes sure every parent knows the ins and outs of each and every day their child spends in her care.
Ms. Meghan — Toddlers
Ms. Meghan has been teaching at Covenant Schools’ Albuquerque preschool for the past three years. She believes that teaching pre-language children how to effectively communicate their needs through sign language goes a long way in helping children feel less frustration throughout their days. Students have a very active day that is well-structured so children know what to expect day in and day out. Children are read to frequently and taught Christian values as they learn to pray before meals, hear Bible stories and sing songs like “Jesus Loves Me.”
Ms. Sheila — Two A
Ms. Sheila has over 19 years experience in early childhood education and has been with Covenant Schools since the program began. In her classroom, every child is treated as an individual and taught skills that help them to advance in independence. Ms. Sheila provides structure and consistency for students while maintaining a fun learning environment. Her genuine excitement in teaching overflows into every aspect of the day so students are constantly encouraged and engaged. By the end of the program, students will be potty trained and prepared to advance to the 3’s class. Ms. Sheila has twin 15-year old boys of her own and believes in keeping open lines of communication with parents.
Ms. Bertha — Two B
Ms. Bertha has almost 10 years experience working with both preschool and school-aged children. She has professional recognition as a Child Development Associate and loves working with young children at Covenant Schools. Throughout the day, students are taught Spanish and learn their shapes, colors, numbers and letters. All children are fully potty trained by the end of the program and ready to move on to the 3’s class. Ms. Bertha teaches children that God loves them and she encourages children to be the best they can at whatever they do. By providing an understanding environment full of love and caring, students excel in their developmental and academic skills.
Ms. Pam — Preschool Beginner A
Ms. Pam has been teaching three-year olds at Covenant School for the past 5 years. Having received her preschool certification in 2008, she is now working on completing her Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Multicultural Education later this year. Ms. Pam believes that each child is a unique individual with different backgrounds, interests and strengths. By uncovering the way that each child learns best, she helps children discover their individuality while enabling them to excel academically. A typical day in Ms. Pam’s class is well-structured while making use of hands-on activities and playtime that encourage kids to use their imaginations and be creative. In Ms. Pam’s class, children will learn basic sign language in addition to mastering the skills they need to be successful in primary school.
Ms. Diane — Preschool Beginner B
Ms. Diane has been teaching the 3B class for the past two years at Covenant Schools’ preschool program in Albuquerque. Having completed a 45 hour early childhood education training course, Ms. Diane keeps up-to-date on the latest in childcare and education by attending continuing education courses throughout the year. Ms. Diane believes that children have to have fun while they’re learning in order to advance and excel in their academic ability. A typical day in Ms. Diane’s class is well-structured, orderly and consistent so students know what to expect and what’s expected of them. She works hard to be on her student’s level as she teaches God’s Word, sign language, music and academics that prepare each child for primary school.
Ms. Kathleen — Pre-Kindergarten Advanced A
Ms. Kathleen brings over 17 years experience to her classroom at Covenant Schools. She structures classroom activities so that students have fun and actively engage in what they’re learning. Her experience has led her to believe that it’s easy to get children to focus and learn when they’re having fun. Throughout the day, children are reinforced in having good manners, taking turns, excelling in academics and engaging in good hygiene. With three grown children of her own and one grandchild, Ms. Kathleen’s experience extends beyond the classroom—enabling her to provide a loving and caring environment in which her students can learn.
Ms. Patricia — Pre-Kindergarten Advanced B
Ms. Patricia has been working in early childhood education for the past 6 years and will graduate with her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Multi-Cultural Education this May. Ms. Patricia creates a classroom environment where children of all different learning styles can excel. Each day consists of structured activities where students learn to socialize with others, explore the world through art and play, engage in independent and group learning activities and actively engage with learning to read and being read to. Additionally, Ms. Patricia likes to incorporate physical activity into each day with dance, music and “noodle” aerobics.
